Cliff Dweller Series - Week 7

What a rollercoaster week it was. Managed to put together a hot streak and make it to rank 39, my highest ever, and the deck was featured on the "top list" for death in Mythic. That was mid-week though and I almost managed to plummet back down into diamond before weekend ranked started. Nevertheless, we managed 9/18 wins in Mythic tow weeks in a row, again with an obligatory drop down into Ethereal Diamond along the way. I have lost the last game both weeks as well to miss out on the Legendary pack, although I'm not too disappointed as I would rather be on the hunt for Shine.

The Deck

I finally took the dip this week and picked up 2x Pyramid Warden's, one of which slotted straight into the deck for Hand of the Abyss. The second change was the inclusion of a single Burrowing Scarab to increase the draw speed of the deck which on the odd occasion tends to stall out. The deck that made it to rank 39 was actually the previous week's deck funnily enough.

Statistics

This week we had our best streak for going first yet, an incredible 13 times! I can only wonder what our win tally would have been if we played something like Hidden Deception...

As usual we had an extremely tough time against Aggro Deception and any sort of light. Heirloom completely dominates Control Magic though which makes up for it.

P2E

An extremely good week for me, double what we would have got before P2E!

Looking Forward

Finally, the wait is over and the balance notes are in. The Infinite Mana tournament is finished and I would expect the balance patch to applied sometime this week. There are other good summaries out there by people like kstreet so I won't go into too many details, but I don't think Heirloom will be consistent in Mythic. Hidden Deception got a slight nerf which may reduce its dominance but I think it can still compete, the big news would be about Hector getting leech back and the changes to Nythos, which would super charge card draw Magic. If the proposed changes make it out of PTR, I can't see myself playing Heirloom next week and need to find an alternative. First prize would be to have a competitive midrange War as that would be my go-to, otherwise I wouldn't shy away from a Magic combo or card-draw deck to keep things interesting.

If I do change decks I will most likely start the stats for that archetype from zero, but keep the cumulative 1st/2nd tally going.

That once again wraps it up for this week, I look forward to running into you out there on the cliff face!
