Cliff Dweller Series - Week 8

I can't believe I'm saying this, but yet another week has passed where heirloom wasn't nerfed. The patch went through but was then rolled back due to bugs, how fortunate could we be! This week we were well and truly mining the cliff face down in Gold.

The Deck

This week I completely reworked the deck. I wanted to focus more on card draw and survivability until we can get our combo into place. This was done by adding in Just a Nibble and Felshbind along with a second Burrowing Scarab. For additional board clear and reach, I opted for Neferu. As you will see in the results it performed respectably.

Statistics

A fairly solid week with 11 wins (in Gold). Favourable win rates against everyone except Death.

P2E

Extremely poor week with a 0/10 and missing out on Tuesday. The going is tough for Gods all the way back down in gold, but still far beyond what you would have earned in Weekend Ranked.

Looking Forward

At the time of writing, the patch changes have been re-implemented. There isn't much data to go by but as I mentioned in the previous installation, I don't think Heirloom will be consistent in Mythic. During the non-weekend ranked days I have been testing various decks, mostly aggro builds, to see if there might be something else that would intertest me. I have mentioned in previous articles that I have been collecting Amazons in case they get a nice buff somewhere along the line, and even though this hasn't happened yet, their gameplay (albeit simple) is extremely fun. They can easily snowball and are nearly impossible to stop if you go first with 2x 1-drops and Canopy Sniper in the first two turns. The majority of the cards are also core so can be easily shined up, which is exactly what I have been trying to do.

Another thing to consider is yet another meta shift when the additional cards from Light's Verdict drop. At this stage it looks like Chosen One decks may make a come back.

I will wait to see what the data says about the effectiveness of Heirloom after the patch, and if I do change decks, I will most likely start the stats for that archetype from zero, but keep the cumulative 1st/2nd tally going.

That once again wraps it up for this week, I look forward to running into you out there on the cliff face!
