Ask God To Do A Repeat Performance
Ask God To Do A Repeat Performance
Scriptures: Joshua 4:19 - 24
Truth: God can do it again!
I love high school sports. While in high school, the boys wrestling team went to the state meet for the first time in school history. This year, the boys’ basketball team won its first-ever state championship.
Many would say, what good things could come out of such a high school in the worst parts of Chicago. Congratulations to the basketball Coach and the entire team. Next year, the team supposed to have an even better boys basketball team. Somebody shout repeat performance.
God has proved Himself to us over and over again. Throughout our life, we have survived close calls. We have survived near death. We have survived storms and storms. We have are survivors. Are their any survivors in the house?
We have been spared when we did foolish things. And surely, God has provided for us by putting money in our pockets, food on our tables and clothes on our backs. Too often, we find ourselves slipped into a slump when the storms of life come our way.
Some believers find themselves in a predicament and get amnesia. They forget how the Lord brought them out of the previous storm and need a remaindered He is the same God yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
(It’s amazing how so called friends forget how you bent over backwards to help them out but when it time to help you, they get lost of memory / amnesia for form a brain paralysis. God has way to make us remember.
After the death of Moses, the Lord to Joshua to get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give the Israelites.
The Lord told Joshua, I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses (Joshua 1:1-3). We have to understand that God want’s to bless us. He wants to fulfill his promises in us.
God’s was to grant us the desires of our heart. But we have to remember how those who pave the way for us, who spoke the word of God and consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
Do you remember how big momma who raise ten kids, feed them and still have enough to take care others?
Do you remember how our forefathers and foremothers fought their way through some terrible times and yet, they were able to persevere and live a full life?
Do you remember how the old church would have prayer meetings and the entire church would be filled with God’s presence? Now we have prayer conference calls, Prayer posting and other means to connect with others to pray.
But if imitate the former faith fighters, we would flourish as a follower of Jesus. Every now and then, we need to have a homecoming or a reunion with past successes to be reminded that God can do it again.
We have to have confidence in God and ask him to do a repeat performance. How do you prepare for a comeback blessing?
-
Be strong in the Lord.
Three times, the Lord to Joshua to be strong and courageous -
Obey the Lord’s commandment (Joshua 1:2)
-
Mediate, chew on God’s Word (Joshua 1:8)
The Lord told Joshua, go through the camp and tell the people “Get your supplies ready. In three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own (Joshua 1:11).
In three days, get ready because God is about to do a repeat performance. God is going to cause some upstream activity in your life to cease so that he can do a repeat performance.
While Joshua and the Israelites where crossing the Jordan, the water was rising but when the priests stepped in the water carrying the ark, the water upstream stopped flowing.
God knows how to cutoff the trouble in the life. He knows how to stop the intake of problems flowing in and allow you to stand on firm ground.
In my life, I have experience being debt free, standing on ground zero. I am asking God to perform a repeat blessing in life and stop the bills from flowing in.
When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord had Joshua place twelve stones at the place they have crossed the Jordan. He stones were served as a memorial so that generations knew about God repeat performance.
Whenever, you hit a major milestone in your life or overcame a major moment or accomplishment, buy something or do something so you can remember how the Lord brought you out.
Treat yourself to a memorial gift in honor of the Lord.
On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho.
Joshua told the children of God “In the future, when your descendants ask their fathers, What do these stones mean? Tell them “Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.
What reminders do you have of God repeat performance? The Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The Lord your God did to the Jordan just what he had done to the Red Sea when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over.
He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God (Joshua 4:22-24).
When you are faced with adversity and don’t know how things are going to turn out; ask God to do a repeat performance.
God wants to stop some things in your life that you have found yourself in a situation again. But thanks be to God, He is a God of second chance.
Tye Tribbett wrote a song titled “If He did it before, He will do it again. He is the same God right now, He same God back then. Greater is he. I know I will rise up because He is the same God right now, He same God back then.
Be encourage, this is not the first storm you been through. You have been through worst and you have not came the far to loose.
If he brought you out before, he’ll bring you out again. If he healed you before, He will heal you again. The problem might change. The situation might change. But He is the same God.
I got power. I know I can overcome.
