Artificial Intelligence in Pre-Authorization Review

Pre-authorization

In the world of healthcare there is something called a pre-authorization review or PAR.
This is a review process performed by insurance companies to determine if a service ordered by your medical doctor can be paid for, and this frequently determines whether you get the service.
This review is carried out by nurses and medical doctors who work for the insurance company.
While there is an obvious conflict of interest, this is the system we currently have in the United States.
I feel like this should be changed.

Artificial Intelligence

-Using artificial intelligence to perform this function could be one possible solution for healthcare similar to hwat bitcoin is for the fiat monetary system.
It could make the process less biased and more based on facts.
We would have to trust the code.

Cons

While trusting the code is ideally better then trustung humans, it is not a universally trusted option.
Oponents say the AI will be an unfeeling arbiteur.
This is thought by some to be worse then bias, the AI doesn't give a damn, so it replaced bias with indifference.
AI can hallucinate and it is unclear what the effect will be on healthcare.
