☢️ Nuclear Ghost Town "Doel" + PANORAMAs 📸

 We visited _"Doel"_ - a nearby ghost town. Not nuclear though.

Located near Antwerp, this little town's existence was threatened by the expanse of the harbor of Antwerp in the '70s. Strong resistance from the inhabitants, and dirty political games were played which led to some inhabitants to have been bought out by authorities.

This resulted in a nowadays almost deserted ghost town, which now attracts ghost town tourism, illegal rave parties and but also is a interesting photo/video shooting location..

Some rebel even spraypainted STEEM on a house. You can also see the cranes of Antwerp Harbor in the background.

"FUN" FACT:

The town is actually not radioactive, although a big ass nuclear powerplant lies in the backyard. #clickbait #youknowwhy #notfunactually

Not all houses are deserted though - some buildings are still habitated, because they cannot sell their house because no-one wants to buy this property.... quite sad how things have developed here actually. Check out the panorama to see the contrast...
