If you are spending some days in the Basque Country and, although you love to stay in a hotel in the depths of the forest like I do, you cannot miss visiting also its beautiful coasts; so one of those mornings that I woke up in my hotel in the Aizkorri-Aratz Nature Park, I took the car and headed towards the beautiful coastal town of Plentzia.

Historically a whaling village since the 13th century, it began to become quite a tourist site, both for its beauty and gastronomic offer and for the expansion of the railway in the 19th century that facilitated tourism in the surrounding area, especially connecting it with the city of Bilbao.

Bathing is allowed in the estuary but you have to be careful with the boats, as they constantly enter and leave the estuary. In my case, I chose to cool off with a very cold natural cider on a terrace.

Saizar natural cider (good stuff) and a tinto de verano.

Basque country is one of my favorites places in Spain because of places likes this one and its food, that is also top notch.
