First Year Beekeeping

I did receive some bees early fall when a elderly lady found a hive in the eaves of her house. Her daughter called since they were getting ready to sell the house so her mother would be able to move closer to them.
It was a challenging day climbing the ladder many times to tear into the well placed hive and capture as many bees as possible.
I ended up buying a new queen from a local beekeeper since I was unable to find the queen when cutting the hive out of the house. This new queen immediatly got the population of my hive ready for the long winter.
This past weekend I was able to set up some new hives while getting ready for the new bees I have ordered from my local beekeeper who has quickly become my mentor.
For me sitting in the garden watching the bees flying in and out of their winter home is the best stress relief!
