Audience

Continuing with the previous post on communication today I bring the following class this one talks about the key of communication from the point of view of the audience.

This point as well as the type of speech, the speaker and technical elements I will develop; however in the following publications, so today I will develop only the audience.

Almost every mistake in the preparation, and part of the execution, of a speech comes from a misinterpretation by the audience.

While the audience does not determine the entire content, it is key to choosing the best way to deliver it.

Without considering the audience there is no effectiveness.

In order to determine the audience, the following must be taken into account, starting from

their actions, the following elements:

• Motivations

• Values

• Attitudes

• Needs

Motivations

They energize behavior, orientation and selection towards a goal:

• To success

• Prestige

• Affection

• Achievement

• Learning

Values

Abstract entities according to which something is desirable.

Attitudes

Predispositions of socio-cultural or personal origin

Needs

They are manifested in terms of innate primary deficiencies (thirst, hunger, sleep, sex, water, food).

And Secondary deficiencies (security, self-realization, love, rootedness, power).

Seen within the framework of the:

Environment: physical and social space where the discourse will take place.

Circumstance: temporal and social elements that affect the audience here and now.

That's how we decided:

• Length of speech.

• Tone.

• References for examples, images, etc.

• Words to be avoided.

• Resources to be used.

• Type of speaker I will be or should be.
