The assumptions of thoery X are:

  • Manager need to threaten, punish and use force to get the job done
  • Most people need to be directed, avoid responsibility and have low ambition
  • Employe are motivated by fear and money

And assumptions of theory Y are:

  • Employes like to work
  • People enjoy working toward goal
  • Commitment to goals increases by giving rewards
  • Most employee seek responsibility
  • These are the approaches that managers take. Theory Y should be taken in practise in order to influence employee and have ownership as a manager. This can be applied in any work.
