A few days ago I was walking around the yard and saw something yellow perched on some piles of dry branches and leaves.
Hace pocos días estaba recorriendo el patio y vi algo amarillo posar sobre unas ramas y hojas secas amontonadas.
I approached cautiously to avoid scaring it and noticed that it resembled a small butterfly with ochre colors, difficult to distinguish from the surroundings.
Me acerqué con cautela para evitar espantarlo y noté que era parecido a una mariposa pequeña con colores ocre, difícil de distinguir del entorno.
It had rained, and I thought the water had damaged its wings. Fortunately, I managed to take pictures and identify it.
Había llovido y creí que el agua había deteriorado sus alas. Por fortuna, logré tomarle fotos e identificarla.
It was actually a moth of the family geometridae Its scientific name is Macaria gambarina.
Era en realidad una polilla de la familia geometridae Su nombre científico es Macaria gambarina.
Moths of the genus Macaria are cosmopolitan in distribution and many of their species have names that contain the word "angle".
Las polillas del género Macaria son de distribución cosmopolita y muchas de sus especies llevan nombres que contienen la palabra "ángulo".
The name "geometridae" comes from the fact that their caterpillars move as if they measured in hand spans.
El nombre "geometridae" viene del hecho de que sus orugas se mueven como si midieran a palmos.
The name "Macaria" comes from Greek mythology and represents a daughter of Hercules.
El nombre "Macaria" viene de la mitología griega y representa a una hija de Hércules.
I was surprised by how delicate it looks in some photos, especially those I took using flash, giving me the impression that it has translucent wings.

I took all the pictures with my Samsung Galaxy A15 smartphone.
