Dodging Rainstorms with the Pooch
This morning felt like autumn for the first time. It was cloudy and misty, but we warmed up once we actually started walking. I am dog sitting right now, so getting out early before the weather turned completely was the main priority for the day.

Naturally, with acres of empty fields to choose from, the dog decided the only acceptable place to have a poo was right in the middle of the local football pitch! I can't take him anywhere.

The foreground is filled with dry, brown weeds and grass. The grass is mostly brown from the drought. Behind that, there is a band of green bushes and reeds, followed by a line of dark green trees in the distance under a pale grey sky. The greenery is slowly coming back with the recent rain.

We stuck to the gravel paths that cut right through the fields. The only colour I found was a single pink musk mallow growing near the edge of the path.

They’re still building new houses around the area, of course.

Further up the trail, we passed an old red brick building next to the railway lines. It is a former pump house that used to serve the old Coking Plant. Its job was to pump up the water coming from the mine workings below ground.

We walked across the wooden boardwalk by the pond, but the sky started looking heavy and dark.

A rainstorm was definitely on the way, so we turned around and headed towards the wooden steps before the rain came.
