When to Quit

Everyone who is a long term user of this platform probably knows a thing or two about the power of perseverance. It is a somewhat noble venture to possess faith in something other people see as failing, and even more satisfying to see when it defies the odds and succeeds.

This post isn't about keeping the faith though. Quite the opposite. There are also times when it is probably best to move on when enough time, energy and resources have been input for very little output. At that point, every second pass the due date feels like an unnecessary strain. Sometimes it cost us in ways that make continuing seem unreasonable.

How then does one know which challenges warrant throwing in the towel and which don't? I personally do not have an answer to that and believe that decision lies with every unique individual. However, I would say that when the cost of something becomes too heavy for what seems like no or minimal benefit, then it is probably a good time to reconsider.

Hive certainly isn't one of those projects to quit. I think the benefits of persevering far outweighs the cost. Even if the platform never bounces back (God forbid), a lot of us can count several ways it has benefitted us over the years.
