Dipping My Toe in the Pool

So, after having taken some time to look through the trending content , the thought struck me... how, as a newcomer to Steemit do I find more content that interests me.

Sure there are tags and most likely other features on this site that I'm unaware of, but as a newcomer to Steemit, I figured my first post should be about connecting with the community and inviting members with similar interests to comment so I can promote more relevant and interesting content onto my feed.
