monomad entry: acorns in summer

it is still some weeks before acorns mature here but i like the looks of these immature ones. i took the first two shots at the end of July. these sessile oak Quercus petraea acorns should be ripe some time in September but i didn't see any reason to wait.

i took the remaining shots a week later at a different nearby place. they are European Oak or English Oak Quercus robur. the wind was strong so the branches were swaying casting a moving shadow down onto the lower branches. the tree was growing in a cleft of a stone outcrop i managed to pin a low branch against the rock so it was still. i clicked away with my other hand as the shadows danced across the stationery lower branch.
