HOLD Your HIVE!
Lots of people have been selling their Hive lately to combat the fall against major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum. Sadly, this has affected the Hive blockchain in negative ways, so here's your friendly reminder to STOP selling HIVE. Panic selling has adverse effects on the market and has a negative effect on voting rewards on the chain.
We're all earning LESS because people are selling for a quick gain with traditional currencies. People should consider staking their coins and holding their wealth instead of panic selling. HIVE IS a valuable token and if you value the community, you'll hold as many coins as you can.
Do your best to not be tempted by short term gains, we're in this for the long haul!

Our rewards are in HIVE; so we won't lose any HIVE with the market dip. For that matter, we are likely to see our earnings increase as the people who do HIVE just for the earnings tend to disappear when the price of HIVE drops.
HIVE dips with bitcoin because the people who speculate on coins are pulling their money which increases the HIVE floating on the exchanges. There is very little we can do about this.
But, If you want to do something to reduce the float; you could drop a burn post.. In the advanced option on PeakD, set the beneficiary to "burn." This will put a little flag by the payout. The system will transfer the coins for the post to null. This reduces the float.

Unfortunately HIVE doesn't have a direct deposit yet. They have a screen for checking information, but I don't think it is functioning.
That means you have to go through an exchange of pull the money out as BitCoin.
Most exchanges charge money for transfers and bitcoin has gas fees. So, lets look at your account on HIVEstats.

It says you have only 41 HP. Sadly, you are a far way from having enough HIVE to worry about selling it.
HiveStats indicates also shows that you are not actively maintaining your Hive-Engine account.
There are several things that you need to do that will increase your earnings.
Before I go further. You need to have Hive-Keychain installed. The keychain is a browser extension that maintains your HIVE Keys. You should never send your keys to any web site.
First lets go to your activities page on PeakD.com with this link

Click the box next to curation. Notice, you are not receiving any curation rewards.
Your curation rewards are determined by the HP in your account. The minimum curation reward the system gives is 0.001 HP. You need to have about 100 HP in your account to get your rewards.
But you can solve this problem. Go to your wallet in either PeakD or on wallet.hive.blog.

The system should show that you have 10 HIVE. Power up that HIVE. Click on that number and press power up. That will bring you to 50HP. You will now start receiving your curation rewards.
The system shows that you have 16 HBD. Click on that number and go to the market. It will bring you to this link:

You can log in with the keychain. This is a confusing page. The left side of the screen has controls for exchanging HBD for HIVE. The Right side lets you sell HIVE for HBD. You will want to use the controls on the left.
Sell your HBD and buy HIVE then go back to your wallet and power up that HIVE.
Once you do this; you will start receiving your curation rewards.
Powering up your HIVE will increase the amount of money people receive when you upvote their posts. To have a positive experience on HIVE you should have several hundred HIVE POWER.
Finally, It appears that you are not taking full advantage of your Hive-Engine account. Hive supplements upvotes with alt-coins. The three primary interfaces for HE are HiveEngine, LeoDex and TribalDex. HiveEngine has a note saying it is going under maintenance. Here are the links

The three interfaces do the same thing.
The transactions on HE are free. You should start playing with HE. Once you start getting curation rewards, you will find yourself earning alt-coins along with your HIVE coins.
Anyway, you should power up your HIVE. Once you have over 50 HIVE, you wills start getting curation rewards.

Yeah that's a good point; I've noticed the Burn option in posts but I don't ever remember using it. Declining a post is another option, but I understand that all that does is return the funds to the reward pool for other users. Thanks for the information man.
