I want to share an idea. Let the interface include language tags. Using dictionaries of 100000 words the language can be detected.

Absolutely beautiful! I hope users can pick different home pages. I notice you had photography section (from tagging I'm assuming), which is great. As a lover of art it would be able to customize that instead for my personal landing page.

My favorite thing on Steemit right now is #SteemAway and I created a curation link with http://SteemAway.Win to make it easy. I would love it if people are able to customize the tags that are most important to them.

Is there any way to make the topic list visible from the front page? I worry that people won't actually browse the different boards unless the list is visible from the very beginning. I personally like browsing the writing board, but the topics don't often make their way to the front page. Maybe develop some way to encourage exploration? Sorry if this sounds critical, I love the design, I just wanted to toss out my first impression.

There is a saying "if it aint broke dont fix it". Current steem design is doing fine. It loads fast. I dont see any reason to confuse this nascent community with a new design and heavy CSS.

I personally think that steemit.com is actually one of the best mobile web sites out there in terms of readability. I love to read articles on my smartphone. Pure pleasure.

Love the concept!

There will soon be interfaces that will allow us to choose which content to display and how, with which layout and bandwidth. Functions, visualizations, analytics, correlators, skins, games will comes as modular apps andor sidechains, markets develop for banlists. The feed filters will be customizable, tags and their relations be shown as 3D-clouds.

I would be inclined to bet that the steemit crowd would uptuck a pretty penny to most devs who opensource an interface that gives curators full control to browse and evaluate new content.

Yes i agree totally! When i first open Steemit website on my phone i was amazed how well done was font size customized.

I love the aesthetics of the proposed design but the main reason why the current design works way better than the proposed one is this:

With current design you can scan the new posts much faster with your eyes.

The proposed design makes your eyes jump around the screen. The current designs requires minimal movements of your eyes to see the next title. Also the smaller thumbnails of the current design don't grab attention from the titles.

In information dense sites the design should always follow functionality - not the other way around.

Great work mate! For sure the app would help everyone! Could be better as well create a server dedicate for pictures and videos... in the way that we don't have to upload somewhere else! But I really like the new style!!! in effet between "steemit" and "submit a story" there is a huge space that could be filled in...

If the site was to turn over to this style of magazine estethique, clearly to the current of internet tech norms, there would need to be at least one window set up to house the present regime of real time in the now posting from whoever and wherever they might be, we must not i feel ,let the pipes of steem be allowed to be channeled to just the " lucky few " who for whatever reason, hopefully good , attract the attention of the bigger pipes of steem ; - ) no pun intended of course !! as this is certainly against and detrimental to the concept of this economy !! no ?

It has nothing to do with the speed of the Internet, it has everything to do with the speed of reading. People who can sift through information quickly (a skill which can be honed by spending years on reddit) will prefer more text and fewer photos.

Usually try to avoid posts already well trending (or withhold my measly upvote) as I try to conserve what little power I have for something I can help promote, but this is fantastic and exciting designs

Excellent! Looks like a more modern version of Flipboard's tablet layout (which is to say good). I find the two issues on Steemit for me are:

• general layout isnt intuitive or aesthetically pleasing
• finding content and even searching is very difficult. The "tags" dont do it for me.

I worry Steemit is pitched too hard as a "like Reddit" thing, as opposed "like something else with a good UI". Reddit got away with it due to network effect, thats not going to happen twice.

Fantastic work, very pleasing to the eye. It would be great if such a professional, magazine-y look like this was the first impression people got when visiting steemit.com. But I definitely agree with others who've suggested there should remain an option (at least when logged in) to view all posts one below the other.

As for the fact that anyone can create an interface to the steem blockchain hosted on their own domain, that is true. However, to avoid confusion, at least in the early stages, I really hope any additional steem sites will be limited to foreign languages (e.g. steemchina.com), or perhaps sites with a focus on specialized content.

Please do not confuse text content with video content. Steemit is not video rich. It is text rich. And to be great at serving text quickly, u must have light CSS. Please look at reddit.

This is a step forward from where the site is now. What I would really like to see is a replacement of my yahoo homepage with SteemIT. I would like to get news feeds, sports weather, stock quotes customizable for me. Add in an internet search engine and have SteemIT and have customizable SteemIT groups that I want to follow on my home page. And how about creating an area for advertisers to solicit feedback/questionnaires from users and do revenue sharing where we can earn steem for our time and participation. Also a dating website to compete with Match.com integrated into the site would be cool. Just some thoughts...

I've seen a few design revision concepts for Steemit but this is by far the best and most complete one that I have seen.

Love the clean and minimal look of the design, and if there was a vote to push this design to Steemit, I'd vote as many times as it takes to make it happen.

Keep in mind that Slashdot lost 90% of its regulars due to poor decisions about layout change and an overly-heavy active comment section. On the other hand, the BBC and Guardian websites have picked up webby awards almost every year since the awards started.

The difference? The former became more cluttered and less responsive, the latter two (for all I detest some of the changes) are less cluttered and more responsive. That is key to a good UI.

Ultimately, though, any such site has data placed into a template, the templated data then placed into a bigger template. I see no reason why the templates should be fixed. They obviously aren't on Weirdpress.

However, that is only presentation. People need to be able to connect ideas. There is a way to do that - RDFa tags, DublinCore descriptions and SPARQL. You could subsume the tag system into that. What tag is primary would depend on where you approach the data from.
