I guess China is the leader in terms of the integration of the app, payment, and other things from their government, although there seems to be a concern about privacy.

If people want to pay with their phone, how do they do it? Login to their web or how?
@rafzat WeChat pay or AliPay. Scan QR codes. Very easy, though not quite as easy as tap-and-go credit cards. China basically went cashless in the space of a year. Anyone can accept payments: print a QR code, and let customers scan and send. Many stores have a voice thing that tells them when they've received a payment, so you just wait a second or two to hear your payment has arrived, then go.
I've often thought about this. In a practical sense, most places in the West don't have much privacy anyway because the corporations we deal with use opt-outs or violate the laws, but nobody complains. We use the illusion of free-market competition to think we have real choices, but yeah, well perhaps if rights are going to be violated, better by a government because they're easier to reform.
