I started as a uni student (writing), accidentally became a model, have enjoyed a career making images all over the world (like Iceland- pictured here), and now as social media has risen and models being replaced by influencers I thought...
I miss my old blog.
Where can I share my adventures?
And a photo client (specialising in... um... 'specialist' websites, haha) put me onto Steem!
But I know nothing.
I'm good at figuring things out, i'm good at learning and i'm apparently good at talking your ear off! But this Steem thing? Not so much.
So... what do you wish you had known when you started posting?

it seems, that you start from scratch on Steem. So you have only a few followers and know only a few about this medium.
I want you to encourage to go on. Steem is fascinating, when you go deeper. So many possibilities.
For example, when you have some significant Steempower you can motivate people to work for you, and you pay them with your interest of your Steempower, just by upvoting them.
You can post what you want (as long as you keep the common rules (no violence, no porno,...)) and when you keep using it and get in contact with other Steemians, you wil get followers automaticaly.
Be what you want to be here.
When you want to be a model, post more of your great pictures.
When you want to be taken serious as a person, write private things about you and you may get some nice contacts.
You can also use some tricks to get more followers by paying some bots or the promoting tool.
I can resteem your post, if you want. I can also twitter about you. I would do it, when I can see, that you are convinced of Steem and start promoting it.
But the most important thing about Steem is: Just do it for fun.
And if you have questions about Steem, don't hesitate to ask me.

Looks like you found those 'Newbies' posts of mine. I wont kid you, it's hard on here to get attention and most of your posts are very short.
Try and up the word count to around 200 and add a few more snaps. Love the fact that your into Urbex, there's not many of us do it on here.
I wish I knew more about RC cause I blew them all the first week and hobbled along until some experts here came and helped me out
The way to success on Steem is to make connections. Find some posts you like and leave comments to make discussions. Follow those who share your interests. Have fun with it and the rewards will follow

I'd like to help. First of all, it's a long term thing. I had almost zero rewards on good articles in the beginning. Eight months later I feel well developing.
I agree communication with people is key. And there are tools to help you with that. I'll try to explain and list some:
Since there is this RC problem (your battery for interacting on the Steem blockchain) which recharges 20-25% per day so it's kind of bad to have it fall below 75%. Posting, commenting and voting drain it, following people drains it, too. The solution is to power up Steem into Steem Power or SP. After some time there will be no problem with that. I can't get my RC below 98% now but at the beginning you're very vulnerable. Well, some optimizations have been made and costs reduced a bit but still... patience.
Voting others up to 10 times total votes from you is good. You have that Voting Power to use and it recharges slowly, too. 20% a day. But that is about 10 votes a day.
Discord app for communication - interesting communities on Steem have their servers there. You're into travel, so try #travelfeed tag, @travelfeed account, also @steemitworldmap and join Travelfeed on Discord. Just a suggestion. They have a photography related channel, too. If you're up to it, I can suggest other servers as well.
Track both your status and interactions in another tab with steemworld.org/@faithroswell
There you can see your voting power, RC, SP status, and most importantly - notifications about who interacts with you and how - mentions, shares, voting, commenting, etc. With a drop-down details tab from which you can go to the blog by clicking the links.
Curation communities like extensive posts. But be yourself, anyway.
If you use Instagram, connect it to your steemit account with @share2steem service. My ref link is https://share2steem.io/?ref=manoldonchev but you can take no ref link and go directly to the site. There are a few steps to verify. They have a Discord channel, too, where they can help if need be. After verifying, you just need to include the #share2steem and your Instagram post will go to the Steem blog as well. Upvoted once per day by the service and other users. No more than 1/day needed. Also it will still drain your RC as usual posts do. It can be done for Twitter, Youtube and other such social media, too.

Commenting and interacting also works but it takes a few months to truley embed yrself.
Yr very 'photogenic' so you could easily pick up a substantial autovote trail if you keep posting!

I wish I knew about STEEM Communities and their Discord servers when I started. Discord is where many Steemians hang out and chat.
As others have stated, just keep posting good content. Pictures help with the posts.
Vote on other people's posts, and comment on some as well. You don't have a lot of "power" to do a lot for a bit, but keep at it and you will soon be able to vote and comment and post all you want.
I think the most important thing is to have fun. If you are not enjoying doing something it becomes like work and can be easily discarded.
What about responding to your comments as first step to success?
Hiya! I'm currently buying a house, touring for work and today is the first day I have had more than 15 minutes to sit down. I only found the comments through scrolling down as I saw no notifications about comments before. So had no idea i had any. There's really no need to be rude. Still a newbie here, trying to keep on top of over 100 messages on various social media after a currently and unexpectedly hectic few days.
As far as I checked I saw you replying rather rarely to any comments (under any of your articles), so I thought this advice couldn't be so wrong - no intention to be rude (but I prefer to be clear in what I say).
