This was something he perpetuated throughout his career on TV and it became a sort of joke when people talked about what they wanted out of a relationship -- often the aspirations would be larger than life, a lavish house, car etc. But Meng Fei maintained his down to earth attitude and wanted to show people of China that humble goals can go a long way.

Mr. Meng is the realisation of his dream and to many, it was unexpected because by the time the restaurant actually opened, people expected it to be a joke on his part. He was serious. Sure enough, the Sichuan noodles restaurants began popping up, at first slowly, and then very quickly. Now, it's made it's way all the way to London.
