At that time, the internet was only used to send e-mail or check data but something told Bezos that it was a matter of time before people used it to buy items. Nowadays it is easy to think of the internet as a source of commerce, but at that time it was unthinkable for Bezos for an opportunity was clear, but as he was going to give up a stable and well paid job like he had, many would give anything to get to where he was right now.
