SINULOG Festival
Hello fellow steemians!
Today, i want to share about the famous Festival here in Cebu. The Sinulog Festival is in honor of Sto. Nino or the Child Jesus the Patron of Cebuanos. Sinulog is celebrated annualy every 3rd sunday of January. The Cebu's Sinulog i think is one of the best festival in the Philippines.
The festival has a traditional street dance which is a competition and attended by different contingents from different cities and provinces in the Philippines. The participants are dressed in a colorful and unique costume and dances to the beat of the drums.
There is also a competition on photography, these is where most filipino and foreign photographers join as well enjoy watching the festival. I joined but did not submit the photos for it was just for fun and i can watch the parade nearly.
Sinulog is a 9 days celebration, before the dance parade is a fluvial procession or water-parade and in the afternoon is the formal procession going to the Basilica.
On the feast day before heading to the parade most of the people and devotees flock to the Basilica to attend the mass and say their prayers and thanks.
