Lonely Neutron Star

NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and ESA’s Very Large Telescope (still love the name) discovered this lone neutron star without a stellar companion.

A neutron star is the result of massive star undergoing a supernova explosion. This explosion forms a star with an extremely dense core and a powerful magnetic field. This rare type of neutron star has a very low magnetic field. It was formed from a supernova explosion over two thousand years ago.
