Pale and washed out
It's sometimes easy and straightforward - That's when people feel the best I think - and sometimes it feels complicated and that's when a person has to reach inside and find hidden reserves of inner strength, fortitude, resilience and energy. I mean life of course; it's easy and hard and no matter which a person has little choice but to go through it.

My reflection is somewhat distorted, pale and washed out I guess. I looked up and at my reflection that morning and it sort of triggered something, a thought of... I suppose a thought of feeling just a little overwhelmed. That's not something I generally allow myself to feel, or admit to but it was the truth.
I'll not go into it here, it's not that interesting really and you'll not be able to relate anyway, however I'll say that the demands of my job including constant travel all over the country together with some health challenges and the fact I'm renovating a house to move into and preparing another one for sale, (along with some other things besides) has me spread thinly and yeah... I guess pale and washed out generally.
I'll get over it, I've done far more difficult things in life and managed to get through them, but that doesn't negate the feeling in the moment right?

As they say: When adversity hits you and a heavy burden falls on your back, just grit your teeth and push on.
But from that violent clenching of the teeth, sometimes they can hurt.
I know many people who don't like the dentist and who lose energy when they have to visit him.
But it will pass quickly, and after that you will have the strength to focus on what you are doing at the moment.
Renovation is difficult. but a nice and fulfilling activity...🙂
Oh yes. After my health started heading down hill a few years back. That and with the stress of my work with the government job. Finally forced into medical retirement. It was a lot.
Back then I didn't. My "brain broke". I lost myself completely. Went off the rails. I was an asshole.
Do now. Occasionally it takes time. But I do it. It can be through reading, meditation, or just sitting on the patio with a beer taking in the lovely flowers we have.
No need to lie, yeah. After my mental break I speak of above, which lasted for a few months. I closed off and stayed in bed for like two to three weeks. Didn't end up going well at all. Nothing came of it. Had to finally kick myself in the ass, along with my wife.
It has happened a lot since the arrival of the kid, there are problems after problems, besides the normal life problems, you get overwhelmed, and there is no help from anyone, parents works, state doesn't do shit, work makes you feel guilty for having kids... But what other options you have? Give up with life? Take your stuff and disappear? No, so you gotta carry on, eat the shit and carry on
Not so much anymore, but when I was in business sometimes problems seemed insurmountable. But when you work for yourself, failure is not an option so somehow I always found a way to get through...usually by deception or subterfuge:)
Yes, I’ve felt that way; it had even affected my health, and when I managed to recover physically, it was my mind that was affected, I had insomnia and was even starting to feel depressed. I managed to pull through by finding motivation in the things I enjoy doing and, above all, through a dialogue with myself that provided me with answers, because I felt very lost. Life sometimes presents us with dark days, but we must seek out the light.
The really great thing is with the above is you openly acknowledge what happened and what that did to you. People who push it aside, ignore or squash it tend to fail when it comes to building the right skills needed for when it happens again...as it often does.

Being ultimately responsible as a business owner is certainly doesn't leave much room to push aside and ignore things when they go wrong or get difficult. I owned and operated a real estate company and property development company and there was nowhere to hide...I had to shoulder the lot. It teaches powerful lessons.
Inner dialogue, the "self-talk" is one of the most important aspects of maintaining the right attitude, momentum and the emotional and mental strength to continue in the face of adversity. Well done.

I usually get that way this time of year when the new school year rolls around and we are trying to get everyone taken care of. I just feel like a tool and less like a person. Just something that gets the job done and has no other function.

I can’t say my health has ever truly failed me (at least not yet) aside from the occasional scare I somehow managed to pull through.
I’ve made it through the loss of loved ones too, simply because life has to move on.
As for every other hardship that caught up with me along the way, growing up, in my career, or in love, I dealt with it like a "wounded dog," by turning inward and licking my own wounds.
I rarely got any help or support from those around me, so whatever I did to claw my way out of trouble, I did entirely on my own, the best way I knew how.
A lot of people tend to be really bad at "providing support" these days; maybe because they're so self-absorbed, superficial or just plain insensitive or stupid. Of course, they think they're being supportive I suppose. Anyway, you seen to have it worked out, what works for you, so well done there, so many do not.

Tjere have always been such people.
I remember my younger days, I helped acquaintances and "friends", whoever needed help, selflessly spending my energy and time.
And when I asked for help, many forgot what I had previously given them.
I made a decision a long time ago - do to someone (who is not very important to you), only as much as you can write off.
For the one you care about, do anything, at any cost.
Sometimes stuff does get overwhelming and you will fall in a heap unable to push forward. But somewhere in there you know that it's kind of a forced retreat and recuperate and reassess period so that when you get back up again you'll be able to deal with the problems.
Or at least that's how I feel when I hit the collapse points (which in some situations I may be able to delay if I really need to deal with a situation right then and there without the reconsideration period in which case it becomes a days-to-weeks long burnout afterward instead).
You're allowed to feel frustrated and overwhelmed and burned out and you're allowed to take a step or several back to consider how you're going to kerbstomp all the problems you're facing (despite what any people that might be causing said problems wanting their solutions immediately because their issues will always be infinitely more important than everyone else's). I only know you from a lot of writing but I know you'll get on with it :) Hope the feelings and the problem/s causing them get resolved/at least relent a bit (in the case of stupid chronic health issues ugh) soon.
I've never been the fall in a heap and not get up guy so for sure I'll soldier on; I think one of the important factors is to acknowledge how one feels but not give in to it. Keeping the eye on the prize, the goal, tends to move a person through the adversities and difficulties along the way.
A step back and recuperate, you say; that's a good point and if it's possible that's one way to reset or regroup for a fresh push forward. I sort of have this weekend planned out to provide that even despite there being things to attend to.

I've always been ok with winter, prefer it over our super hot summers, but this year it's been more gloomy than I can ever recall. Usually we get the typical winter weather but 60% of winter is clear blue skies (cold still though) but we've not had anywhere near that this year.

We have a lot of wild fires down here and for sure the smoke can be difficult to deal with at times. We've not had a really terrible one since late 2019 early 2020 which was rather devastating across several States and a lot of lives, forest and structures were lost. Some are still not rebuilt due to insurance bureaucracy. Hopefully things improve up your way.
News today reports the last Spokane evacuation orders ended yesterday, but danger is still high. Smoke levels are uncomfortable, but not too bad, and there is a chance of rain in the forecast. Rain would clean the air and reduce fire danger, so I welcome it should it come.
I've seen a bit on the situation here and there and it sure looked bad. It's amazing how things like this can effect people negatively but also many good-news stories come out of it; people pulling in the same direction at the same time and all.

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
