Vegetarian Pizza
Hi everyone,
For my first Food Steemit entry, I thought I’d share with you a home-made, wholemeal, vegetarian pizza recipe.

To begin with, you’ll need the following ingredients:
For the dough
- 2 cups (500g) of wholemeal bread flour
- 1 tsp of olive oil
- A pinch of salt
- 7g instant dried yeast
- ½ tsp of sugar
- ¼ litre of warm water
For the tomato base

- 5 spoonful of tomato puree
- 1 tsp of olive oil
- 1 tsp of mixed herbs
For the toppings
- Button mushrooms (roughly 9 big pieces)
- One large red onion
- One large red pepper
- Sweet corn
- Black olives
- Cheddar cheese
- Mozzarella cheese
- Quorn pepperoni (optional)
Steps:
-
In a jug, add ¼ litre of warm water, yeast and sugar. Leave the mixture for 10 minutes or until it’s foamy.

-
In a large bowl, pour flour, olive oil, salt and the yeast mixture.

-
Mix all of them together to form a dough. Knead for 5 minutes.
-
After kneading, leave the dough with cover for at least 30 minutes (or until the dough double its size)

-
Cut the dough in half to make two large pizzas (at this point, you may start pre-heating the oven at 180 degrees)

-
Knead the dough into a ball (As shown in number 5)
-
Roll the dough with a rolling pin then place the dough in a greased pizza tray

-
Put the tomato base on the dough and spread evenly

-
Then, put all the toppings
-
Finish it off by, sprinkling cheddar cheese on top

That looks delicious! Great job!
Thank you :)
I like your step by step post, and the collection of ingredients to start things off. And making your own dough - good for you! That can be a challenge, but it looks like you've got it down. Nice to have a post showing how to do that.
On a side note, I had no idea there was such thing as corn pepperoni!!? Who knew? (I'm sure there are millions out there that knew, but I was not one of them!) Thanks for sharing with the community.
