CAPTIVITY / BONDAGE.

We need to have an understanding of captivity. Captivity means incarceration, it means imprisonment. It also means to be a slave. Well this is physical, but I will be deliberately on the spiritual meaning, the spiritual meaning is derives from the physical. It means to be spiritually enslaved, spiritually imprisoned. We find ourself doing things we ought not to do, we do the very things we hated. Though physically, we look free, but spiritually we are not free. When for instance we are not able to live the life of God we ought to live, when we are held up in wrong lifestyle contrary to our desire, it is captivity. The foundation for all other forms of captivity is sin. Affliction is captivity, poverty is captivity, failure is captivity, set back, limitation, depression, tears, sorrow, pains, sickness they are all forms of captivity. But none of these comes to being without sin, one way or the other.

The goodnews is that Christ have paid the price for our captivity to sin and to every other captivity, on the cross of Calvary. When He said it is finish it means our sorrow is over, pains, tears, sinful nature, you just name it they are all gone.

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. - John 8:36 NKJV.
