God's original design for marriage is found in the book of Genesis 2:24, where a man and a woman are joined by one flesh. From the beginning God does not allow polygamy, that's why Solomon was hated by God for going against his will and having 700 wives and 300 concubines. We also see David's (a man after God's heart) child died which is the fruit of fornication. This shows that God does not allow polygamy and of course he punish those that practice it.

In as much as we are given the power to choose between obedience and disobedience, we should not abuse that power by choosing disobedience to God's will. Everything we do here in earth has its reward, if we choose to go against God's will, then we should be ready to face the punishment that comes with it. We will give account of the life we live here on earth on the judgement day.
As christians, let's always obey God's will and follow his teachings.
