Hello Steemit. I'm Jimmy.

Hello Steem community. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jimmy and I work as a business systems analyst in Columbus, Ohio. I have too many interests and that's always been my downfall - no focus for the important things. Speaking of important things, I have a wife and two fur babies. My dogs are Australian Shepherds and litter mates. Two monster black fur-balls. As I write this, Bear sits on my left-hand side and Bandit on my right. 2015-06-20 09.12.21.jpg

I collect things, play guitar, tend to my garden, and speculate in crypto currency space. I'm into comics (still, at the age of 47) , fantasy, sci-fi, and getting lost in detective stories. Music is ever-important in my world and serves as a brain cleanser if I put myself through the rigors of paying attention to the current political environment or diving deeper into a conspiracy theory that needs attention. I also can't enough of ice hockey.

My ultimate passion has always been good food. The creation and enjoyment of amazing foods keeps me sane ("sane" is a relative term). I spent years in a kitchen as a young man - from the ages 13 to my early twenties. I worked for real chefs and some fake ones. Hopefully I'll find some outlet for recipe sharing here as well.

I learned my politics from a standup comedian when I was 18. That comedian also introduced me to the idea that JFK may not have been killed by a lone nut communist. Bill Hicks! showed that it was possible to be on the fringe of society and still make a huge impact on the collective consciousness. He joked about drugs, aliens, conspiracies, and rednecks. Hicks allowed that everyone has an opinion, but his was most correct and he was going to inflict it on you as the audience member. Were he alive today to see Trump as the leader of the "free" world, I'm certain he would help us find the humor in the man or, more likely, in the misdirection by the mainstream media. Nowadays, I'm a libertarian who is leaning more towards conservatism. In my younger days I was a democrat but these days that party has lost its way. I can't get behind socialism, but I firmly believe in individual charity. Individuals can make a huge difference. Private charity can pool the power of charitable individuals and make a difference in society, all while getting government out of our lives and into what they should be doing, serving the people.

I always imagined I would someday become a writer. My writing heroes include Charles Bukowski, Neil Gaiman, Hunter, Thích Nhất Hạnh and Ernest Hemmingway. I"m excited to share things like crazy (but probably true) conspiracies, Thoughts on entertainment media, music I love, and who-knows-what-else with you and get feedback.

Enough about me. I'm going to sleep now. Good night and thanks for having me as part of this growing community.
