Reflections

From the artist's eyes, it's a song about how he borderline overdosed on some drugs and was brought back to life by a doctor just before a live performance. This was the sequence of dialogue between them. For me, it's a little more than that. In my eyes, the song talks about how we tend to run away from pain and enclose ourselves in our own tiny bubble inside of our head. It is comfortable there, even though it is numb. We would rather face the numbness than face the pain and sorrow that our lives may inflict upon us. However, that is not the path of growth. Sometimes, we must grit our teeth through the pain and face our fears to see the light of day. And when we have enclosed ourselves in a little bubble like that, it is often our own selves who must act as a friend to help us climb out of it and gently start moving towards growth again. A friend who can do it for you is a blessing to never let go.
