Tanner Creek

Back in the Columbia River Gorge, this is Tanner Creek, which is just to the South of Bonneville Dam. The trail runs for about a mile up into the canyon before ending at a beautiful waterfall with a picturesque pool at the bottom of the falls.
This is I would assume the start of Tanner Creek, the water cascades down in two separate drops, the first of which is high up in a concealed canyon and is difficult to see, but very spectacular to watch. Photo's of this area to follow later.
This image is a composite HDR image made from I think three separate images which have been processed through Photoshop. Once the image was finished a Gaussian Blur was applied to the back portion of the image to create that "painted look" while the front was left pin sharp to create contrast and depth which is used to draw the observers eye into the center of the picture, immersing them into the experience of Tanner Creek.
The images used to produce this include a long exposure of 5 seconds to create water motion, a green tint image to produce the high greens, and a black and white image to produce the rock highlights.
This image, which was taken about half a mile from the trailhead, is typical of the creeks found in the Cascade mountains, and every year Salmon come here to spawn and then die becoming food for the Eagles and other predators which live in the area, while the young Salmon grown and start their long journey to the Pacific ocean.
