Turning the Ship Around

It takes time and effort to turn the ship around. And the time taken as well as the effort spent won't be known until you reach your final destination. I have a couple of suggestions for making it easier to embark on your next journey, but it does require some critical thinking skills.

The first thing you have to consider is where or what is the state of the ship right now? Does it need to be righted first?

Or is it just pointed in a direction that is no longer taking you where you want to go?

Once you have that sorted out, THEN you need to figure out where you want to go. This is where the critical thinking part comes in. If you just want to go "anywhere but here", you're going to have adventures perhaps not in a way that will get you where you think you want to be. Because you have to know clearly and specifically where you want to end up in order to point yourself that way.

For example, you may say "I want to go east". Then all you would need to do is point yourself in that direction. Easy. Done. But I trust that you're more ambitious than that, unless you've experienced everything in life and you just want to go on an adventure of discovery.

You have to know specifically where you want to end up in order to get there. You have to say something along the lines of, "I want to go east and see the shoreline on that side of the country." That is more concrete and in the end would be eminently more satisfying when achieved.
