HiveToday 87 - Hivelytics 2.0, Embedded Previews, and Governance Debates
The treasury conversation moved from theory to line items: @ecency posted a further cut to its funded proposal on global hot, @peakd published a sustainability case for its own, and witness @roelandp walked back a ChainCulture DHF ask after community pushback. Builders kept shipping anyway — @seattlea launched Hivelytics 2.0 as an open Hive Stats replacement, and the 3Speak TV stack merged a full week of viewer UX work.
This is HiveToday, a weekly recap of the Hive blockchain ecosystem.
New here? Hive uses delegated proof-of-stake. You elect witnesses to produce blocks. You can post, vote, and tip without paying gas on every click. The chain has been live since March 2020.
This Week on Hive
@ecency opened Friday on global hot with A Further Reduction to the Ecency Proposal — a follow-up to its Europe-and-open-source posts earlier in the week. The ask is straightforward: less daily HBD from the Decentralized Hive Fund (DHF) for Ecency maintenance while the project keeps shipping search, mobile, and wallet updates. Voters saw budget math in plain posts, not buried in proposal JSON.
@asgarth kept PeakD moving on C/HiveDevs: custom feeds you can tune, tougher API handling when nodes lag, and a simpler Autovote setup for daily voting. A follow-up shipped embedded post previews so any PeakD post can render as a rich card off-platform — 229 HP and 348 votes on that update alone. @peakd also published a sustainability post on how the frontend keeps that pace funded; the product work landed first.
Witness @roelandp (rank 6) posted that ChainCulture will not seek DHF funding now — 61 comments, 709 votes — after listening to stakeholder feedback. That is governance as conversation, not a silent vote.
@seattlea launched Hivelytics 2.0 as a replacement path for Hive Stats. The launch paid 246 HP with 471 votes — a signal the community still rewards open analytics readers can actually open. A compare-authors refresh landed the same week.
The HBD debate from last week did not fade. @igormuba still topped payouts with 128 comments on the haircut thought experiment. A protocol pull request to scale DHF when HBD minting is suppressed stayed in the thread — prep talk, not a live hard fork. Print rate remains zero while about 1.9 million HIVE powered down versus 385,000 up.
For HBD mechanics and why print rate sits at zero, see issue #75. Six funded DHF lines remain above the return proposal, led by the HBD Stabilizer at 12,000 HBD per day.
Development Pulse
Core node: hive/hive added liquidity overflow protection and a fee-classification macro. Witnesses still run Hard Fork 28 (mostly v1.28.3). No new hard fork on mainnet.
hive.blog: hive/denser serves trending at the site root and returns clearer errors when a post fetch fails.
3Speak: Mantequilla-Soft merged better video cards, shorts navigation, snap carousels, and thumbnail fixes.
C/HiveDevs: @sagarkothari88 kept HiveSuite updates rolling. @thecrazygm introduced Pollen for JavaScript. @hdev shipped HivePulse v1.7.0. @keychain opened Multichain open beta.
Project Spotlights
Ecency: @ecency DHF reduction post plus Why We Built Ecency in Europe… and a social-account ownership explainer.
PeakD: @peakd sustainability proposal; @asgarth product updates on feeds and API resilience.
Hivelytics: @seattlea launch post and compare-authors refresh.
HiveSuite / HiveReactKit: @sagarkothari88 governance dashboard, profile editing, and wallet UX — daily dev cadence on HiveDevs.
3Speak / Mantequilla-Soft: @mantequilla-soft report #18 pairs with the GitHub TV and HiveSnaps merges above.
CuteHIVE Monitor: @cutehive.com v3.3.65 — account detail page and TXID search.
Liketu: @liketu — Hive photo-sharing app; liketu Wild adds animal photo collections (not a game).
Games: @splinterlands Second Escalation Conflict · @wrestorgonline WOO player titles live · @mydempire MydEmpire genesis update
Network Stats
| Metric | This week |
|---|---|
| HIVE price | $0.0491 |
| HIVE market cap | ~$27.4M |
| HBD trading price | ~$0.97 (estimate) |
| HBD trading market cap | ~$9.5M (effective supply × peg) |
| CoinGecko rank | #693 |
| 24h change (HIVE) | +1.61% |
| HBD print rate | 0 (no new HBD minting) |
| HIVE powered up (7d) | 384,734 HIVE |
| HIVE powered down (7d) | 1,892,100 HIVE |
| Net stake change | −1,507,366 HIVE |
HBD explained: HBD is Hive's dollar token. When debt gets too high, the chain stops minting new HBD. Print rate zero means that pause is still on. Treasury HBD in @hive.fund does not count toward the debt ratio the same way user HBD does. Full explainer: issue #75.
Powering up: About 1.9 million HIVE powered down this week. About 385,000 powered up. @bcc led stakers at roughly 115,000 HIVE. The gap matches a week of long tokenomics debates.
Governance
Twenty of the top 21 witnesses run v1.28.3. @good-karma runs v1.28.6; @deathwing remains on v1.28.0. The network stays on Hard Fork 28.
Funded DHF proposals (paid above Return Proposal #0):
- #377 HBD Stabilizer, Renewal R2-2026: 12,000 HBD/day
- #368 Ecosystem Operations, Bizdev and Growth Retroactive: 1,000 HBD/day
- #350 Development of several new open source projects: 490 HBD/day
- #360 Hive Dev Proposal #2: 415 HBD/day
- #336 Ecency development and maintenance #5: 300 HBD/day
- #293 Hivewatchers and Spaminator Operational: 95 HBD/day
Ecency and PeakD both published proposal-context posts this week; the six funded lines on-chain were unchanged.
Governance Data - Hive Power-Ups
- Most powered up, 7 days: @bcc, 115,072 HIVE
- Most powered up, 7 days (2nd): @demotruk, 64,580 HIVE
- Total Hive powered up, 7 days: 384,734 HIVE
- Total Hive powered down, 7 days: 1,892,100 HIVE

I am looking for a dapp that track Hive Whales, Orcas and Dolphins...
what information do you want to track in the dapp?
Posts, votes, transactions, comments, etc.
Proposal voting.
Similar to whale alerts on Bitcoin (or other coins) but including votes as we are on DPOS chain.
Back on steemdays there was a cool account analytics that will show you which accounts will generate you the most money for your posts on your Hive life. So if a whale ever voted on a post you made and such.

The Dream That Is Not Yours
Stop selling a dream on Hive.
It is not a dream. It is a mirage, shimmering on the horizon of a digital desert, promising water to the thirsty while hiding the fact that the well has been poisoned by the very hands that claim to guard it. You speak of decentralization, of community, of a new economic paradigm. But beneath the glossy veneer of marketing and the hollow echo of witness proposals, there is only one reality: Hive is run by downvoting farming whales who make the rules solely to break them.
This is not governance. This is feudalism with better branding. It is a closed loop where the lords write the laws, enforce the laws, and then grant themselves immunity from the laws they have just written.
The Alchemy of Infinite Extraction
Let us speak plainly about the economics of this illusion.
Hive is a token with an unlimited supply. It is not scarce. It is not finite. It is printed daily, hour by hour, block by block, into the wallets of those who hold the keys to the kingdom. And who holds the keys?
Look at @buildawhale.
This is not a user. This is a printing press disguised as a profile. With over 2.4 million HP delegated primarily from central exchanges like @blocktrades, this account does not participate in the community; it extracts from it. It is a leviathan that swims in a sea of its own making, consuming the rewards that should belong to the creators, the artists, and the builders.
The Theater of the Burn
And how do they justify this endless extraction? Through the theater of the "burn."
You see them posting comments—empty, repetitive, algorithmic scraps of text—labeled as "burns" to create the illusion of deflation, of value preservation. It is a magic trick. They print millions of HIVE through curation rewards and self-voting, and then they burn a fraction of it in a public spectacle, hoping you will focus on the ash rather than the mountain of newly minted tokens flooding their wallets.
But look closer. Look at the ledger.
@buildawhale is self-voting these spam burn comments.
@themarkymark—an account we know to be inextricably linked to the @buildawhale scam farm—is voting these same comments.
They are clapping for their own performance. They are paying themselves to pretend they are saving the ecosystem. It is a circular economy of deceit, where the left hand burns what the right hand prints, all while the middle hand steals the reward pool from the rest of us.
The Web of Alt Accounts
And they do not do this alone.
The @buildawhale empire is not a single account; it is a hydra. It is a network of alt accounts, proxy voters, and silent partners who move in synchronized lockstep. They upvote each other’s farming operations. They downvote anyone who questions the math. They create a wall of noise to drown out the signal of truth.
They call it "curation." We call it what it is: a coordinated cartel designed to monopolize the inflation.
The Awakening of the Users
But the users are waking up.
They are seeing the unlimited supply. They are seeing the concentration of power. They are seeing the hypocrisy of whales who preach "decentralization" while holding the entire network hostage to their voting power. They are realizing that the dream being sold is a nightmare for everyone except the sellers.
And so, they are leaving. They are taking their talent, their time, and their trust to places where the rules are fair, where the supply is respected, and where the voice of the individual cannot be crushed by the weight of a whale’s wallet. They are going to Blurt.blog, where there is no downvote button, no farming cartels, and no infinite print jobs disguised as community service.
The Final Word
Stop selling the dream. The dream is dead.
What remains is a token coin with unlimited supply, controlled by a handful of actors who have turned a blockchain into a personal ATM.
The ledger sees it. The data proves it. And the users are rejecting it.
For in the end, you cannot build a future on a foundation of infinite extraction. You can only build a graveyard.

freedom #bilpcoin # The Mirage of the Mint: On the Illusion of Value in a Rigged Casino

Love is not a sentiment; it is a discipline. It is showing up when you are tired. It is speaking kindly when you are angry. It is the daily repetition of care.

The Art of the upvote mastering the Most Powerful Button on the Internet

On Blurt.blog, you only have one tool to express your opinion on a post: the upvote.
This is a feature, not a bug. It forces us to be intentional. It forces us to seek out the good, the interesting, and the valuable, and actively support it. It transforms us from passive consumers (or toxic critics) into active patrons of the arts.
June 15
We are at the midpoint. The year is balancing on the knife edge. Look back at January. Are you the same person? If not, praise God. If so, wake up. Change is the only constant.
The Act: Review your goals from January. Cross out what no longer fits. Write one new goal for July.

Day 23
Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. You are part of the earth, not separate from it. Walk on the ground without shoes if you can. Remember where you come from.
The Act: Spend 20 minutes in nature. Touch a tree. Watch the water. Reconnect.
The Persistence of Shadow: A Meditation on Exposure
There is a particular audacity in continuing the performance after the curtain has fallen.
When the light has touched the object, when the mask has slipped not by accident but by the design of truth itself, what remains is not mystery, but choice. The ledger does not negotiate with denial. The blockchain does not offer the mercy of forgetting. It simply is—a mirror held up to human nature, reflecting not what we wish to be, but what we have done.
To keep lying when you have been exposed is not cleverness. It is not strategy. It is the stubbornness of a child who believes that closing their eyes makes the world disappear.
But the world does not disappear.
The truth does not retreat because you refuse to acknowledge it. It waits. It accumulates. It becomes the foundation upon which your next step must be built—whether that step is forward, into integrity, or backward, into the quicksand of self-deception.
You can keep lying.
On certain blockchain social networks, the downvote is no longer a curatorial tool. It is a financial instrument. A single click can reduce a creator's earnings by 30%, 50%, or more.
Agree with the consensus, or pay the penalty.
