The Greatest Shot in PGA Tour History

Tiger Woods has always had a knack for the dramatic. In the 2005 Masters Woods was tied with Chris DiMarco heading into the final round. Woods took the tee at the par3, 16th hole with a one stroke lead over DiMarco.

DiMarco had honors and stuck his approach to 20 feet below the hole for a potential tying birdie putt. Woods flew his approach over the green and the ball came to rest on the collar of the rough.

Woods stared down the near impossible, downhill pressure-packed chip and visualized how he was going to execute his next shot.

After three to four minutes of stalking the shot, Woods hit a low, spinning chip that took three bounces and came to a near stop on top of the hill, then watched the ball trickle down the slope towards the hole, on line the entire way, until it came to a complete stop as the ball the ball looked over the cup for one to two seconds and eventually finished its last revolution and hit the bottom of the cup for an improbably birdie.

DiMarco stood in shock as Woods and the crowd roared. The made chip and eventual missed putt by DiMarco gave Woods a two stroke lead.

Woods went on to win his green jacket and the shot on 16 remains the greatest shot in the PGA history.
