Kota Gede Mosque Complex Yogyakarta

Hello, my dear friends, how are you? I hope you're all happy. Thank you Wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay. The location is in Bangun Tapan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. One of the old Cities in Yogyakarta.

Some time ago, My children and Grand children visited the Kota Gede of Yogyakarta. A historical tourist destinations. The car was parked in the front yard, where several other cars were parked. Then, we walked to the Mosque complex.

The Mosque complex is located in the middle of a residential area and surrounded by a high wall. Before entering the Mosque complex, there is a gate whose design is an acculturation of the pre-islamic architectural style of classical temples.

Entering the front Courtyard of the Mosque. In the courtyard,there are two halls with pyramid-shaped roofs on the north and south sides of the Mosque. The year of construction of the Mosque is written as 1589, so the Mosque is approximately 437 years old.

The main building has a square floor plan with a triple- tired roof and four Soko guru or main pillars. The architectural form is traditional Javanese. And the additional building of the eastern porch used right Soko pillars.

After seeing the ancient Mosque, my children, Grand children,and I walked to the tomb complex. Behind the Mosque are the tombs of the Kings of islamic Mataram. To enter the tomb, one must pass through a gate called Paduraksa.

The tomb has a surroundings fence and solid stone and consists of three sections or Courtyard. The first Courtyard is a hall where the countries are on duty to take care of the administration of the pilgrims.

The second Courtyard contains several buildings use by pilgrims to change clothes and wait for their turn to make the pilgrimage. The third Courtyard, contains the tombs of the early Kings of the islamic Mataram kingdom and several subsequent Kings,as well as their relatives. We only got to part or page two,not into part or page three.

Through the east gate and through the Alley,we see the thick and sturdy fortress Walls. Leaving the old Mosque complex in Kota Gede,we walked again after leaving the Mosque complex and Saw other attractions. I met a tourist from Poland.

They were with their family and they said that after Yogyakarta, they would visit Bali.
