I'd pick Barthalamas as my archon and a max level Jolius Blast for the unit. Jolius has Void that can defend against magic attacks. Against melee attackers, he's got Retaliate to counter attack. Then, he can raise his power and speed with Enrage when he gets damaged. The speed boost will work together with the Archon's buff and speed and will increase his chances to dodge physical attacks. The only cards that can attack him with no drawbacks are range attackers with Close Range. I don't think Ratbound Corsair is a match for Jolius Blast on a 1v1 fight.

Strategy: I'm locking in the same pick as @beaker007. Honestly, no Foundation card is beating a Level 4 Jolius Blast 1v1. At this point, it just comes down to pure luck—who misses their attacks and who triggers more Retaliate strikes!

Unfortunately I don’t see anyone beating Mr Blast but Mr Blast!

Let me try. I'll go with the Life archon. The +1 armor will absorb one hit.

My unit will be King Erminaz Twincleaver. It has three attack and Double strike skill for offense. But what gives it a slim chance is its Dodge skill and five speed. It might be able to avoid some hits. That's it.

Life against Fire would be my choice in a duel with a very World of Warcraft feel. My champion couldn't be anyone other than King Erminaz Twincleaver.

At max level, this orc warrior has the Double Strike ability. If he manages to land all those hits on the enemy tank, Jolius, I'll secure a decisive advantage right from the start. On top of his speed, he excels at dodging: I'm counting on his Dodge—an utterly annoying ability for any opponent—to keep him standing until he crowns himself the true king of the battle.

I didn't realize I had placed him in the first position. Even though Jolius is an incredible tank, I'm confident that Dodge will give us that unfair advantage, keeping us safe from any retaliation attacks when he gets enraged.😎

i see 2 ways how it could be possible to win.
first with

Archon : Incessant Sage
Unit : King Erminaz Twincleaver

you need pray for misses and not getting retaliat otherwhise its a lose. the thing here is you attack 2x first with king but jolius is then still on 7hp and !6! speed then. you need pray that there no retaliate on first 2 attackts. then jolius will attack 2x u need pray for misses. if not king down without shield and 6hp or 1hp. then king attack 2x again need pray for no retaliate. jolius still on 1hp and attack again. would need alot misses and luck. even he have dodge. the chance to win or get a draw are very very low.

BUT

since already a handfull choosed that i will go for something else :P
probably chances to win not better :D

i asume you will go for

Archon : Barthalamas
Unit: Jolius Blast

then i would counter with

Archon: Aurendrak
Unit: Jolius Blast

it would be pure gamble XD you would attack first. i need get retaliat and you not. then i attack you to 3hp. you again dont get retaliate. then you attack me down to 5hp. i get retaliate and you again dont get it so i win. if you get in last attack it would be draw. otherwise lose :D
better chances you have of corse with the Archon Barthalamas when you can play only 1 card but since i dont want a auto draw as u probably choose that i have no choice than pray :P but of corse if you would use Aurendrak i would go for Barthalamas as there i would have way better chances :D

I think the above has the best chance of winning, as mentioned by many others before me, with same reasons stated by others.
I would like to explore another possibility, low one though of beating Jolius, that is:
Archon : thalgrimore
Unit : Necrulencian Thief max lvl
there might be a small chance to win over when jolius continuously miss hits Necrulencian Thief, and thief continuously poisons jolius, then win over.

I still think King has better chance of beating jolius, but just want to provide another possibility.

We will see!!

Hi, I'm a complete beginner who's just starting to learn and understand the game, but here's my attempt:

I've seen that they use health to attack, but I'm not familiar with it yet, so I'd use fire against fire, which is what I've played most.

My current summoner is Barthalamas with Jolius Blast.

So, being evenly matched against another Jolius Blast, I think it would be quite interesting, and if I'm lucky, it could be a guaranteed victory.

Only with the RNG of the Gods, a different lineup than Barthalamas + Jolius Blast could beat a Barthalamas + Jolius Blast in a 1vs1 battle.
If I could choose Barthalamas + Jolius Blast, I allways chose this one.
If not, I'd try with Incessant Sage + King Erminaz Twincleaver and a lot of prays LOL.
