Yellowjacket is a common name in North America for the predatory wasps of the Vespula and Dolichovespula genera. Members of this genera are known only as bees in other English-speaking countries. Mostly black and yellow, some black and white like bald-faced bees (Dolichovespula maculata), while others have red stomach colors. They can be identified from their distinctive marks, that is, the small size of a honeybee, they are always colonized, moving quickly with flying patterns from side to side before landing. Every female is able to sting.
