MY CONFESSION

Earlier this evening, I was feeling restless about something. The truth is, I’ve been starving since I got back from school. I had no cash or food items at home, so I started racking my brain for a solution. Then, I remembered I have a married brother who lives in the city.

Imagine me, with a brother nearby, yet here I was, hungry. Although, I didn’t want to tell him about my situation. My steeze—my pride—is something I don’t mess with. So, I came up with a perfect plan.I have a beautiful toddler niece, Angel Unyi -Abasi, whom I haven’t seen in two weeks. I called my sister-in-law, Blessing James and asked about my niece. I went on about how much I missed her and how I wanted to see her today since I’d be busy for the rest of the week.
All this was a pretense to go eat some free food.

I quickly freshen up and headed to their house, picked up my niece who didn’t even care about my presence. All that mattered to her was to show me her new walking skills. In my mind I was like, 'see this one'! Then she started throwing tantrums up and down. Her tantrums didn't matter to me sha, I had an ulterior motive.

The moment I’ve been waiting for finally came when I heard my sister in-law say, “Isaiah, there’s rice and soup o, Which would you like to have”? I hesitated, pretending I was fine, but she insisted I eat something. I was happy she was playing along. She told me to go into the kitchen and prepare whatever I wanted. The moment I was eagerly anticipating! Without a second thought, I zoomed into the kitchen with the speed of light, warmed up the afang soup, and made myself two cups of eba. I ate to my satisfaction.

When it was time to leave, she asked if I’d like to take some rice home. I eagerly said yes. And that’s how I managed to eat, keep my steeze intact, and even took some food home. This is my confession and I'm not even sorry.
