Morocco Journal - 001

To provide a little background about myself, I am a freelance motion designer with a passion for travelling and photojournalism. It's been almost exactly one year since my good friend and I were backpacking through Europe and he convinced me to check out Morocco. We initially landed in Marrakech with zero preconceptions and planned to return back to Europe after a week in Marrakech. When I arrived at the medina to find the riad I was staying at, I was smacked in the face by the new sights, smells, and sounds that I have never been exposed to as a guy who grew up in Canada. I felt like I was dropped into a scene straight out of Aladdin, and I knew right there and then that my trip was going to be extended to longer than a week.

We explored 8 different cities (Marrakech, Essaouira, Aquermoud, Chefchaouen, Tangier, Casablanca, Merzouga and Erfoud) spread all through out the beautiful country and ended up staying for two months. I tried my best to capture my experience along the way, and want to share these images in this series - Morocco Journal.

I really liked the traditional long robe with a big hood called Djellaba that the locals would wear, mainly because it made them look like Jedis walking through the medinas and small towns.

This is my first post on Steemit and I will continue sharing my photography and thoughts on this platform, and follow up with the Morocco Journal series. It's been quite hard trying to narrow down which images to share in the first set of the series, and I'll try my best to be consistent with the curation of content. Any tips and insight from fellow photographers and writers on how I could improve are always welcome as well!
