I rather have encrypted messages, but it's sad to know that encryption is one of the strongest weapons criminals have to use against us.

It's really foolish to undermine vital tools and institutions because they are used by criminals in their behaviour. They also use cars, money, knives. We have to still be able to live our lives, and we can't sacrifice the pillars that protect society such as private discourse.

Criminals would still be able to organize and communicate with encrypted messages, regardless of whether Whatsapp and Signal etc. are forced to use surveillance. It wouldn't even achieve that goal.
Also the author's post isn't really about encryption so bringing my topic up kind of encourages this to be an off topic tangent.
Totally true... If they ban this, it'll be a quick downward spiral to a Brave New World! #hell
