judging from this little guys hair.......he just came back from a mach 1 flight!!!

He is a merganser....
The common merganser eats fish and nests in holes in trees.....
the merganser was first described by the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus in 1758.....
in the tenth edition of his Systema Naturae
This one is a female......
the male does not have the beautiful hair :-)
anyway....

The red-breasted merganser (Mergus serrator) is a diving duck, one of the saw bills. It is also called Goosander in Eurasian.
