Ethereum perceived as a Fund or Security ?

Hey Guys,

Love ETH - but is there another label in Financial Institution for Ethereum other than a Security ?

Ether is more of a coin than token to my understanding.

Tokens built on top of Ethereum can provide utility as well as increase value of ETH protocol in the process.

Ideally u want the token to 📈but from a risk point of view - seems safer to invest in the foundational base layer of the ecosystem..

Everybody seems to like the platform approach for an investment horizon of 2018-2019..

EOS, Neo, Lisk etc are a few examples but is anybody else concerned that financial institutions are going to see these protocols as securities ?
