Getting ready for Hivefest and finding allocation
Right now I am booked for my flight to Spain, however I still need to unlock many other things before I can be on my way to Hivefest. Primarily allocation, Barcelona is a very pricey city and the cost of hotels are sky high, even with good anticipation, looking for prices are around 150-200 euros a night. Also many people warn NOT to get an AirBNB as the Spanish government has crack down on this and many are not as good as advertised. So now we have several issues, but I am not giving up. I have an idea that might work but will need a lot of caution. First I need to find a place in a town close to Barcelona and leverage on the train to get me there on time before the event starts.
So I will try to look into a town called Badalona, is only 22 minutes away from Barcelona and if I am careful I can play my cards right and have a good accommodations and not have to spend that much time getting there. Fortunately I am living in 2026 and we have the power of AI so most of my questions would be answer close enough to AI as possible. From the train schedule to the peak time and how to pay for the tickets or if I need to get some sort of transit card.
I was able to find the subway station and the train schedule thanks to AI and also was able to look for other hotels that might have different price points. It seems that thanks to Maps I was able to find way more options than on Booking or asking for Google for them.
With Gemini Gems I was able to create a constant AI instruction to keep looking for things related to my destinations and best accommodations on the cities and surroundings. I would try to add some tips later during my trip, but for preparations I can get some basic ones running like spot offers and things to improve my mobility in the city. Get ready a scooter rental or something that could get me within the city.
I am not the biggest AI expert that know how to squeeze the last drop of info on Gemini or any other engine, but I know how to use Youtube. And I was able to find this video to really customize my travel trip and the logistics at the city. Using 'My Maps' could be quite an interest experience and a portable intelligence to really break into the city with premeditated information, prices and such.

I used to use something called Audio-scrobbler which I think became last.fm.
It was tied to my Winamp player, and we all used it and looked at what each other were listening to.
So far Gemini is the AI that I have the most time with because I rely on Google so much to begin with, and use Android.
I was angry at first when they forced it on me instead of Google Assistant because I have an aversion to AI that's reflexive.
But when it can help people save money or do things better, that's a win I'm willing to give.
Google Assistant was more efficient on specific tasks. But I agree Gemini gives you way more and overcome it's verbosity sometimes.
Oh wow it's gonna be in Spain. I hope one day I will be able to join. God bless you and may you all have a great time when you get there!
