Been gone a while, let's catch up!

Hey Steemit!

I've been away for a while so I'm curious if you can share with me the recent highlights of what's going on with Steemit.  What new tools are the cool kids using these days?  Are there things for alerts, new bots, search, etc?

I am thinking about resurrecting SteemShovel and adding a bunch of new functionality but don't want to bother building things people are already doing.
