Modernity

From meadows stewed with poppy and peace
A melody across the atmosphere
Descends from breaths of clouds. Along the east
shores, galloping winds stumble through grass-loop gears,
turning nature’s symbolic spokes,
creating dreams and harboring hopes.

Yet from this graceful act of God’s pallet,
Smoke stacks loom from lofty heights in heaven.
Combustion clashes with the cries from Earth,
Perverting the humble birth
Of new life.
