Another Day Another Case:

Nowadays, especially in Pakistan, we are seeing and hearing about harassment cases more often, and honestly, it is becoming deeply concerning.
Harassment is not normal, and no one should be expected to simply tolerate it or stay silent about it.
It can happen in public places, workplaces, educational institutions, online, and even within familiar circles where we feel we are safe.
Sometimes the person causing harm is a stranger, but sometimes it can be a friend, colleague, teacher, relative, or someone we never expected.
What matters is not who the person is, but how their behavior affects another person.

Different Faces of Harassment:

Harassment does not always happen in the same way, and sometimes it is difficult to even explain what we are going through.
It can begin with unwanted comments, inappropriate jokes, staring, or attention that makes a person feel uncomfortable. For some, it happens on the streets, while others face it at work or in schools and universities.
With social media becoming part of our daily lives, harassment can also follow someone through messages, threats, fake accounts, or online stalking.
Sometimes it becomes even more painful when someone uses fear, emotional pressure, or blackmail to control another person.
The worst part is that many people stay quiet because they are scared of being blamed, judged, or simply not believed.

Why Do Victims Stay Silent?

Fear of being blamed
Family and social pressure
Fear of losing education, employment, or relationships
Lack of trust in authorities

The question is : Why do we ask victims what they did, instead of asking perpetrators why they did it?

What Needs to Change?

Better awareness and education
Accountability for perpetrators
Support systems for victims
Teaching consent, boundaries, and respectful behavior
Creating environments where reporting harassment is taken seriously

But harassment has many faces, and none of them should be accepted as normal or ignored.
