Shocking statement: aliens live among us

Aliens have been visiting Earth for thousands of years, and they are concerned that people can destroy this planet, said the former Canadian defense minister.

Would never happen. Any technology we received would be weaponized in some way. The focus of those in power is all about keeping themselves in power. To do that their only strategy is to go to war.
We are not all that creative as a species when it comes down to it. We can invent all kinds of new ways of controlling and killing each other, but not a way to live free and in peace.
