Happy Belated Tax Day

As tax season comes to a close I find myself examining the effects of trauma from trying to rationalize personal violation.

Trauma exists not because violation happens, it exists when we are unable to process or even understand what it means to be violated.

Trauma is an experience that contradicts one's current understanding, that has yet to be properly understood and defined. This is why awareness if often said to be the first and sometimes the only step to healing which is really just realization. The information from an experience is not aligning with what your internal faculties understand to be reality.

For example, cognitive dissonance is small a sign of trauma albeit just from a small occurrence.

When something doesn't compute with our current "knowing" it creates a chasm between you and reality. That is a good thing, its just a signal that you need to pay attention, watch and learn.

We often don't know when we are being "violated" because our sense of self has been either poorly defined or not even defined at all.
