Prison Industrial Complex

I want people to see how prisons have become the answer for the homeless, unemployed, drug addicted and mentally ill people in poor, immigrant and racially marginalized communities and in turn have become a source for big business.
Concepts
I will attempted to document the similarities between the private correctional system of the 2000s and the slave trade of the 1800s. The illustrations will document how the modern correctional facilities force labour on its prisoners and in turn gain a profit, which have the same characteristics to how slaves would work without pay to acquire a profit for their masters. The illustrations will show how the methods that were used in the 1800s are re-appropriated and are now used to target individuals of a particular race and exploit them for personal profit.
