I liked the look you created for yourself! It's really good to experiment and see the results, and tweak it more in the future if you want, or use it again if you like how it looks. I like your hair both at the beginning and at the end. I don't think it's "atrocious" :)
Interesting thoughts on the Moon Landing program. I feel like you did research and tried to explore several different points of view. That's a good thing!
