Why break ups hurt so much...

To love someone, is to include them as yourself. It is to come into a state of emotional oneness with that person. Breakups are so painful because you have chosen to kill something that is a part of you. Even if it was the other person who chose to do it, you are going to experience a death of something that is a part of you. What ensues is a grieving process, much like the one that happens when someone we love actually dies.
