I wanted to write this to help anybody thinking of learning a new language. These are some things that have helped me personally learn foreign languages.

Tip #1: Watch television shows or movies in your target language!

Meteor Garden has been one of my favorite shows to help learn Mandarin, and it's on Netflix! Chances are there are tons of movies and shows in your target language on YouTube, Netflix, or Hulu.

Tip #2: Listen to foreign songs!

Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube has tons of foreign songs. This is one of my favorite ways to learn.

Tip #3: Use this website to look up song translations, and even help input your own translations!

I use this website to practice translating, but it can also be useful when learning songs with new vocabulary. I recommend using this site while listening to new songs!

Tip #4: Make friends from other countries to practice speaking!

Practicing speaking is the most important part of learning a new language. Website like Rosetta Stone or Duolingo offer experiences like these, and forming relationships with people across the country through travel is a fantastic way to practice speaking.

Tip #5: Read children's books!

This may seem degrading, but reading children's books is actually very helpful for beginners in a new language. Local libraries or online bookstores carry these.
